It all came full circle and hit home on July 31st when one of our own Oklahoma Cowgirls, Brenda A. was
taken from us,
strangled to death at the hands of an abusive boyfriend. It was then,
that we vowed this would never happen again to one of our own, and so we
set out to establish a non-profit organization to help not only our
own, but also countless others. On August 29th, 2010 this site was
launched and has since been under a constant state of evolution.
Since that time,
not only was Cowgirls Git-R-Dun social networking discussion forum
created, but also The Cowgirls Git-R-Dun World Record Ride was
conceived in late 2010 and first introduced to the motorcycle community
on January 7th, 2011. After an incredibly overwhelming response, on February 10th, 2011 articles of incorporation were filed in Tallahassee, FL
for Cowgirls Git-R-Dun, Inc. as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
Application to the Internal Revenue Service were filed on March 4th and
acknowledgment was received from the IRS on March 25th. On May 13th the
final signature confirmation was received and then signed on the 16th,
2011. On June 16th we received from the Internal Revenue Service, IRS,
Department of The Treasury, our award letter of acceptance(see below).
All this from an inspiration by a women doing something that others
thought couldn't be done. Stacy Westfall's championship ride and the
inspirational content included, has evolved in to year round fund raising campaigns for three very worthy causes: Victims of Domestic Violence Victims, Breast Cancer Patients and Homeless Veterans. We KNOW we will Git-R-Dun, and we will
fulfill our dreams, beyond our wildest ones.
Inspiration Can Come From Almost Anywhere & When You Least Expect "It".
You Just Need To Receive It, Embrace It, Nurture It, Cultivate It, Build on It,
and Believe in Yourself to Make It Happen.
